There are so many great ski hills near and around Ottawa for you to enjoy this winter. Whether you’re a beginner or expert, or want to take your kids for lessons for the first time ever, here is where to go this winter to enjoy all the fresh powder on the hills!
Camp Fortune: Camp Fortune is a favourite among many Ottawa residents, because it’s a great place to ski with the entire family and it’s only about 15 minutes from downtown. Camp Fortune is proud to offer the longest ski season in the region. They have 2 new magic carpets for first time skiers and snowboarders, and Fortune also haa night skiing. There are 23 runs for expert, intermediate, and beginner skiers and snowboarders, and 2 cozy ski lodges for those who just want to enjoy drining their hot chocolate indoors.
Ski Vorlage: Vorlage is great place to bring the entire family—they are known to cater to family and children, and they offer group and private lessons, as well as night skiing.
Mount Pakenham: Mount Pakenham is about 25 minutes from Kanata, and they have private lessons as well as lessons in the mornings, afternoons and weekends. Mount Pakenham has a great ski school program, but you better call soon, because spaces are filling up fast!
Mont Cascades: Cascades is a family favourite place to head for weekend skiing, whether you're skiing on your own or just learning how to head down the hills. They have a great family package and great "kids learn to ski" programs, as well.
Calabogie Peaks: Calabogie is known as “the big mountain close to home”, and it’s considered the undiscovered secret of the Ottawa valley… why not discover it for yourself this winter? Calabogie offers weekly, private, and holiday programs for the whole family. Snow school registration is going on right now, too. Feeling risky? Join their ski racing program!
Edelweiss Valley: Edelweiss is very family oriented and they have a great snow school program. They offer group and private lessons, and they have a racing team.
Mont Tremblant: Why not make a weekend out of it and take a mini vacation to Mont Tremblant, where there is always so much to see and do?
Mont Tremblant is a gorgeous famiy vacation destination, no matter the season, but there is something especially picturesque about Tremblant during the holidays and winter months—the European-like village is extra charming, the ski hills are packed with skiers and snowboarders, and Tremblant has great accommodatiosn right in the village. Of course, there is so much to do in Tremblant after you’ve finished skiing… great shopping, entertainment, and fine dining to cater to all tastes. Tremblant has a lot of great trails and ski hills, and although they do provide lessons for all levels, Tremblant is great for the more experienced skier.
