The 37th edition of Winterlude is going on until February 15th, giving you and your family plenty of time to take in all the fun winter activites!
Winterlude is Ottawa’s greatest winter celebration that helps people realize spending time outside in the cold winter months can, in fact, be fun.
You can skate on the world’s longest skating rink, check out the incredible ice sculptures, go down some massive snow and ice slides, enjoy a Beavertail and hot chocolate, and just… play in the snow!
Best news? All Winterlude sites will remain on on Family Day, February 16th, so you’ll have something to keep you all busy, together.
Here’s where you can find all the Winterlude fun:
Confederation Park: RIght downtown, by the canal, you can check out the beautiful ice sculptures that Winterlude is known for. Ice carvers from around the world take part in creating some unbelievably stunning pieces of work—all from large blocks of ice. Make sure to visit at night where all the pretty coloured lights on the ice sculptures make them look even more magical. You can, of course, warm up with hot chocolate and a Beavertail before you leave!
Jacques-Cartier Park: This is the biggest snow playground ever and it’s so much fun for kids and adults. There are many fun activites going on, including snow competitions, entertainment, and the massive slides that are always a blast. The Snowflake Kingdom in Gatineau has so much to offer, including great food and drinks, and you can even meet the official Winterlude mascots, the Ice Hogs, too!
Rideau Canal Skateway: No Winterlude visit is complete without skating on the world’s largest skating rink. If you don’t have your own skates ,don’t worry—you can always rent them on the canal.
Have fun, be safe, and stay warm!
